About Verna M. Lisa

Verna is a skillful life coach, mentor, and entrepreneur in the wellness & personal development industry. She is also a master certified NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practitioner, NLP teacher, hypnotherapist, and author. She has been in the field of mental health and social services since 1988 and has assisted thousands of clients to transform trauma into an empowering resource.

Verna specializes in depression, anxiety, PTSD, goal achievement, and transformative mindset coaching. She currently has a private practice and previously worked for Haven Behavioral Hospital in crisis intervention as an intake coordinator and as an outpatient therapist. Prior to that, she worked as a caseworker, special needs children’s advocate, and parenting instructor for a private family services agency that was contracted with Berks county children and youth services. Verna began her journey in the social services industry working for the Berks County Youth Detention Center as a youth care worker, Spanish translator, and eventually became a Berks County Deputy Sheriff. She obtained numerous certifications in both law enforcement and social services during her tenure with the county of Berks.

Verna named her life coaching practice The Layers because, in her many years of behavioral science studies and work in the field, she found a consistency, “we forget who we are because of spending our entire lives being told who to be, what to be when to be, how to be and why to be. Which begs the question, who were you before the world defined that for you?” THAT'S what she is PASSIONATE about helping her clients rediscover.

She customizes protocols depending upon client needs. Verna utilizes very specific NLP methods in combination with hypnosis when necessary.
