Prescription Addiction By Lisa Warde A woman in her early 30s had several prescription drug addictions that she wished to break. A few years back, she made the mistake of going to a psychiatrist that did nothing but prescribe various drugs; some were very harmful and addictive. I had her list out on a piece of paper all the medications she was taking or had taken. After inducing trance, I established yes/no finger signals. Since she wanted to deal with specific items rather than medications in general, I did a variation of the Swish Pattern to incorporate all the particulars at one time. I had her visualize a tray. I told her that she was going to place the medications she no longer wanted to be addicted to on this tray. I then went down the list she had given me and asked her to indicate with the finger signals which medications she wanted to place on the tray. For each "yes" I had her visualize placing that bottle of medication on the tray. After going through the list, I asked her if there were any others she wanted to place on the tray (in case there was something missing from the list or she had changed her mind about something not on the tray.) After receiving a "no," I then did a version of the Swish Pattern, basically taking the tray and putting it inside a TV set and then fading the picture of the medication, had the picture get distorted with static and fade to black. I then went through the Swish Pattern mechanics and through the use of finger signals established when the desire for the medications was gone. I then went through the reframing process and established the alternatives to the medications she wanted (for example, to meditate more). I then read off some affirmations she had written. I then future paced these alternatives (next day, a week, a month and interacting with various family members and associates). I then asked if any part of her objected to these changes, and integrated the changes within all aspects of her physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. After integrating the changes, I brought her out of trance.
