Wil’s Log:
It has been a fast paced month. After returning from a NLP Basic Practitioner training in Canada, I set in motion the scheduling of trainings in Singapore, Malaysia, and India for July. It will definitely be a busy month. Spreading the power of NLP is an honor.
I am looking forward to the two trainings that will be held here in Fort Myers, FL: a NLP Basic Practitioner course in Florida June 2-5, 2006 and the upcoming NGH Train the Trainer June 10-17, 2006 also in Florida. (See Marketing section for Free Bonuses with the trainings.)
Coming Soon! A new Pod Cast. I plan on doing a weekly pod cast. This will be an informational short pod cast that will teach and inform. The first few will be uploaded in the next few weeks. I look forward to your feedback.
This month I would like to ask the question, “Do you live up to your own ideals?” I pose this, as it sounds like an easy question, but much like ethics, when it costs you something, or “hits a nerve” it can be harder than it seems. Last month I talked about using the skills to change something in your own life. I would like to expand on that here.
This week we saw the opening of the movie, “The DaVinci Code”, and with it all of its condemnation by people who have never read the book, or, of course, seen the movie. I have always thought “CONTEMPT PRIOR TO INVERSTAGATION WILL LEAVE ONE IN ENTERNAL IGNORANCE”. NLP taught me to challenge preconceived ideas.
How many of us in NLP or Hypnosis have had people make judgments based on fantasy. I pose this question, since the longer I have been in the field of NLP/Hypnosis, and taught and seen thousands of clients, it becomes easy to prejudge a new course, or a new idea, without taking the course or studying the material. It is easy to say any seminar or course is worthwhile, but not attend yourself. I admit I have fallen into this habit. This weekend I am going to a seminar on martial arts, and this year I have gone to 2 seminars/classes to date. I am looking forward to going to several new courses and I am also thinking of studying a new field. I do this to expand my base of knowledge.
What ideals of yours can you challenge and see if you’re living up to them, or just “talking the talk”?

Whether you're just checking NLP out for the first time, have recently finished your NLP training but still feel like a "newbie", or are an old pro who's been getting great results for years, we'd love to have you participate in our discussions. If you're new at this, you can ask all the questions you want, and if you're already experienced, we welcome your help in answering them.
NLP is a creative field. NLP Practitioners have lots of ideas. We'd love to hear about your new NLP patterns that you've developed, your enhancements to existing NLP patterns, tips and tricks you've developed to make your sessions and your NLP private practice more successful, and what you've done to motivate yourself to greater success.
If you're just getting started, share your concerns and your questions with us, and those of us who have been around for awhile will share our stories, and some of what we've learned in our own experience solving these same problems.
And if you like learning new things, we have a daily article series, so that once you join, a new article about NLP turns up in your email every day. Recent article series have covered topics like:
NLP MODELING - what it is, how to do it, an example of modeling in action
Integrating ADVANCED EFT into your NLP session – what is advanced EFT, and how can it help your NLP session turn out even better?
PAIN CONTROL in the NLP session - how effective is it, how can you integrate it into the NLP session, and how do you convince the client's subconscious that "THE BODY IS CAPABLE OF COMPLETE RELEASE OF PAIN?"
A four-part series on a new technique called "GOING UP THE EMOTIONAL SCALE" that can be used for initial assessment, a metric that tells you how you're doing, a useful paradigm for understanding what you are accomplishing in your NLP sessions, and a specific technique that can be used for lifting the spirits of a client who comes to your office caught in a dysfunctional negative trance.
How SHAKING HANDS WITH YOUR CLIENT can tell you more than you expected about your client's state of mind.
What is the YES SET and how can you use it in your sessions?
Understanding and dealing with ABREACTION if it occurs.
How to read the client like an OPEN BOOK.
How ACTIVE LISTENING is a simple yet profound way to generate rapport.
What is CHASING THE PAIN?
And a new NLP motivational pattern called GETTING A TECHNICOLOR DREAM CAR!
The forum is hosted by myself (Charlie Curtis). I've been doing stress management training, NLP and hypnosis for over 20 years and maintain an active private practice. I have a large NLP library and present NLP-related topics regularly at the NGH conventions. I'm personally fascinated by how NLP gives practitioners a richly detailed window on the world, and so the daily articles reflect this wealth of diversity that the NLP worldview brings.

Theory into Practice:
(An example of practical rapport-building skills in act ion!)
By: Derrick Sweet-Chairman
Healthy Wealthy and Wise Corp.

I recently had a very important meeting with a client to discuss the possibility of having his company hire me to do some sales training. While in our meeting I inquired about my client's personal life. I knew he recently had a child which was now approximately one year old.
As I asked the client different questions about his child, (Is he talking now? What words has he said? Can he walk yet?) he lit up with obvious joy and pride. Each time he did this I smiled and nodded. I also mirrored and matched his body language and breathing. We were in rapport!
After we talked about my client's child for a good fifteen minutes (time flies when you're talking about your child!) I had anchored several smiling nods which were now linked to the feelings my client has about his child.
I next asked my client a number of closed ended questions (questions that can only be answered with a "yes" or "no" response) which all were answered with a "yes." With each "yes" answered I smiled and nodded. After I finished asking the closed ended questions I then asked my client a few more questions about his child and followed his responses with subtle smiles and nods.
When it came time to present my proposal I simply asked my client if we could get started next month. Then I smiled and nodded (again, very subtly) and waited for his response. He said next month would be great and signed the contract. I couldn't believe how NLP improved my sales presentation and rapport. I can now hardly wait to go out on some more sales presentations!

Lower Body Temperature Means Better Sleep
By: Tim Callinan C.HT
For anyone who has ever worked second shift, sleeping after work is difficult. Your mind is full. Your body is wired. It’s late. You should get some sleep. Yet there you are, clicker in hand, watching Conan O’Brian at one am. After many nights of three to four hours of sleep, I have come across a technique that works very well for me.
When we sleep, our body shifts in many ways. One of these changes is in body temperature. Our body cycles one degree above to one degree below 98.6 over the course of the day. Researchers have identified this time as occurring two hours before sleep. So a drop in body temperature near bed time triggers the sense that its time to sleep.
This technique is fast time slow time only with temperature.
When I do this technique, my body becomes very still, trance still. Is this sleep paralysis that keeps me from acting out my dreams? Is seeing a river of cold water running thru my body a new way of counting sheep? Is temperature a physiological trigger for sleep? I leave these questions for you to answer. Try this technique in reverse to wake yourself up. Raise your core body temperature.
Timothy Callinan.
