Something to think about from Dr. Wil Horton
Intro to NLP Today E-Zine
NLP Today E-Zine is a monthly series of articles that will bring you the best information in the world of NLP and Hypnosis. We will bring you articles that have been proven in the real world. Heavy with techniques and information you can use in your daily life, whether it’s as a therapist with clients, business or sales, or just for self-development. We will get you the information you want and can’t get. We focus on proven applications, not theory. Our trainers all “do the work.” This is the difference that makes the difference. We cut the fluff and bring the main course. Mental Food you can use. NFNLP is the leader in this type of technology.
This is a service of the National Federation of NeuroLinguistic Psychology and Dr. Wil Horton. We want people to achieve their highest potential, and NLP is the #1 tool for this. If you feel you have been added to this list in error, check out an issue, and then let us know if you would like to be removed.
You can achieve your dreams.
Wil’s Log:
Announcement! The First National Guild of Hypnotist Trainers Training taught by Dr. Wil Horton will be in June at the NFNLP Learning Center in Ft. Myers, Florida. Do not delay since space is limited. See the Marketing section for details!
I hope this month’s ezine finds you well. The month of March found me busy, but also introspective. We taught two classes at the NLP Learning Center, an Essential Skills Workshop with Scott McFall and a NLP Trainers Training. They both went well; Both classes brought the skill set of the participants to a new level. We look forward to the Spring’s upcoming classes: the April NLP Basic Practitioner Course in Toronto, Canada and in June, for the first time, a NGH Trainers Training!
I get introspective in March as St. Patrick’s day is special to me. It is the day I celebrate changing my life as it has been 22 years since I had a drink (of alcohol). I wasted years of my life and two careers before I was exposed to the technology to, not just save my life, but change it into a life worth living. Do not get me wrong, the events in my past, all of them, is what lead me into becoming the person I am today. (See Techniques for a way to change your perspective of the past.) It has given me a perspective that few can imagine. I never could imagine in my wildest dreams that I would be where I am at today. I am blessed with a profession that I love, and have experienced success with it. Helping other people change their lives is wonderful; I have also learned that to change your life you have to change your beliefs. You also have to surround yourself with those that will help you achieve the life you are going after. I have been blessed with both personally and professionally. Having my wife and daughter’s support in all my endeavors has helped me grow personally and the NGH and NFNLP has helped nurture my professional growth. Recently, being named as a Certified Master Instructor for the National Guild of Hypnotists is a true honor that I know will help me grow professionally, and help the field that has given me so much. I would like to thank all that have been a part of this wonderful transition. I look forward to many more good things.
I would like to share two good links pertaining to our field. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

From Beryl Comar, who will be teaching an Emotional Intelligence workshop at the NGH conference in August.
"Your Success Recipe. See it – Believe it – Plan it – Do it"
See it – Everything is created twice, first in your internal world, your imagination, and then in your external world, your life. Everything that exists today was first a thought. It could not exist if someone had not thought of it, because it is the thought that gives rise to the action of creation. What you must learn, is to picture what you want and not what you fear. All too often we say "I don't want this to happen again" when we should be saying "I want this to happen" Always ask for, and picture, what you want. See yourself as already being the way you want to be or having the thing you want to have.
Believe it – This is an essential element of the process. All too often we say one thing but believe another. We want to lose weight but we do not believe we can. We want to change jobs but we do not believe that there are any opportunities or that we have the skills. Use your NLP skills to mind-to-muscle from intention to belief.
Your belief in your goal must be on two levels. Firstly you must believe that there is value in the achievement of your goal, that it is worth doing. Everyone's favorite radio station is WIIFM (What's In It For Me) What will you gain by achieving your goal? How will your life improve? Remember that underlying every action is intent and it is the intent that is the driving force behind your actions.
Secondly you must believe that you can do it. You must develop an unshakeable faith in your ability to succeed. Confidence in your ability to achieve your goal is essential to your willingness to take action. Realize that you have already managed to achieve many successes in your life up to now. Build a success foundation for yourself by writing down all the successes that you have had up to now. Imagine that you were applying for a job and write your CV showing all the reasons why you would be suitable for the post.
Plan it – Success is a process not a destination and as such needs a plan of action to ensure success. The funny thing about life is that most people plan their holidays with more care than they plan their lives, but that's understandable I mean holidays happen only once a year and life, well that's forever isn't it. Work out what you have to do in order to achieve your goal. What resources do you need? What resources do you already have? Remember it's not what you've got it's how you use it that counts. Set objectives, these are the steps of your journey. Refer constantly to your plan, it's the only way to measure your progress.
Do it – Funny thing about ideas, they won't work unless you do. Now that you know what you want to do and why you want to do it the only thing left is to get started, and the only time to get started is now, (when did you ever do anything tomorrow?)
Believe this, the future belongs to those who believe in and act on their dreams. Faith is the wind beneath the wings of your dreams and action is the fuel. Take charge of your life and determine your future with this "Recipe for success. See it – Believe it – Plan it – Do it"
Theory into Practice:
When one looks at highly successful people, they have a tendency to look at their past experiences differently than those who see their past as a burden and do not move forward. They think first of all their success, they then view the set backs as “learning experiences”, rather than a failure.
I was watching an interview with Donald Trump (pre-Apprentice) and when asked about events in his past, he associated into the successes, with I statements, and disassociated from set-backs, with statements like “Even Donald Trump has learning experiences.” This was followed by the same thing with Bill Clinton. He associated into success: “I did this to get elected; I saw an opportunity to run”; I or we statements for success. When asked about setbacks, it was, “The Clinton administration; The President”, or the best example was , “Bill Clinton learned more in the election lost, for governor.” Again, associate into success, disassociate, but remember the learnings!
Finally, it was the same as I watched Michael Jordan being interviewed. He had the same structure. With this, the future looks bright and appealing and it is easier to go for opportunities. I have talked to hundreds of people who are “stuck”. They see the past failures as huge and stopping their futures. When asked about the past, they associate into failure and set backs, and they turn events into statements about them. They see no successes or positives. Can you guess which is more positive and successful?
