WAKING HYPNOSIS

These next two E-zines will focus on Waking Hypnosis, the magic of covert trance work. Today we will look at the three keys to waking hypnosis:

Rapport

Representational System Alignment

Directed Thought Patterns

To begin the process you must first get into rapport with your target, the person who you wish to direct or redirect. Rapport is the basis of trust and you need basic rapport to open your target up and lower their defenses.

In my workbook that has just been released, we give you exercises that develop your rapport skills. I will describe a couple of these skills later.

The very basic rapport is "mirroring." Have you ever watched two friends in a conversation? They are almost a mirror of each other. This is also called "Entrainment." (A law of physics states - two items in motion, if in close enough proximity, will synchronize.) If you are in a long- term relationship you will find your movements, sitting positions, hand gestures, etc., in sync with your mate's (as long as the relationship is compatible/friendly). The deepest subconscious rapport is breathing with someone. It is a deep psycho-physiological link when your breathing cycle matches your target's.

Here is a fun exercise to prove this maxim. While you are in a conversation with someone, mirror and match his/her movements. Notice that this deepens the person's trust in you. Then match their breathing pattern.

Next, in a social situation, acquire a target. Watch them out of the corner of your eye and then begin to mirror and match their movements and breathing. A coffee shop is an excellent place to practice this exercise. Sit the way the person sits. When they take a drink, you take a drink. A high percentage of the time they will start a conversation with you. Once you have established a rapport with a person, that person in a hypnosis environment, will slip into a trance naturally. We will go into more detail on rapport in our next e-zine with additional exercises.

The next level of waking hypnosis work is representational systems. To deepen rapport after you have some basic physical matching, you need to match your target's way of representing the world, their representational systems. To do this you need to listen to the words they use:

Visual - see, look, clear, focus

Auditory - click, listen, talk, discuss

Kinetic - grasp, feel, touch, handle

Olfactory - stink, rotten, smell

Gustatory - sour, sweet

Whatever words they use to describe the world, you should use those types of words. Match the representational system.

Here is an exercise to match representational systems. A good way to practice identifying predicates is to listen to the people you come in contact with on a regular basis. This could be family members (mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, cousin, etc.), friends, neighbors, co-workers or business associates. Today you will be listening for visual predicates. When you hear a visual predicate, say to yourself "VISUAL." Take notice of the situation and observe the nonverbal communication cues (eye movements, body posture, breathing, vocal tone, temp). Do the nonverbal communication cues match the visual predicates? Why or why not? (It may be helpful to carry around a pocket notebook during the day, and review them later when you are alone.

Note these signs of a Visual representational system.

Body Posture Cues: Person leans back, with head and shoulders up or rounded. There is also a tendency to hold the chin up.

Eye Accessing Cues: Person looks up to their right or left or may stare straight ahead, eyes unfocused.

Breathing: High in the chest area, shallow and fast.

Vocal Tone/Tempo: Speaks quickly and the pitch is usually high.

Once you are in both physical and representational rapport, it will be assumed that you are in alignment on deeper issues. Now that you have the first two elements of rapport you will want to guide your target into Waking Trance. To do this, you will need to guide their thoughts. You need a clear objective in your mind. Then use your voice to guide them. This time I will give you several Waking Hypnosis lead-ins. Practice them. Become comfortable with them. In our next e-zine I will break them down and add in the secret of "Applied Power."

 

In this next part we will show you the basis for waking hypnosis lead in scripts. This time I will focus on embedded commands. They will be in bold. Isn't it cool.....

How the mind works.... The window or doorway into your mind....

What causes different states of consciousness? How many times do you just drop into an altered state? Now, even hypnotists are stuck thinking there is only one type of trance, deep trance and waking state. I find it very interesting what causes people to naturally drop into a deep altered state. Now to me that's cool.

Can you remember the last time you had an experience that forced you to change your state? Now that happens to me when I see a sunset, especially the sun set into the Gulf of Mexico. It takes your breath away and causes you to take a deep breath, and really look at the grand sight. Have you ever had one of those experiences that make you see things differently? Maybe music forces you to go deep inside yourself and experience those special feelings. Maybe climbing a mountain or walking in nature drives you deeper into your inner thoughts and feelings.

Isn't it interesting you could be going along normally and WHAM, You drift away into yourself instantly?

Sometimes something happens that is so powerful, so compelling, it causes you to look inside yourself. Now to me, a movie can do it. Have you ever seen a movie that changed your state quickly? Happiness, Love, Courage, is inside and for many people they go inside and find what they need. They need not be aware why they can't stop thinking about going deeper and deeper and experience new feelings.

Isn't it interesting how your mind works? How everyone is slightly different? Did you know we all visualize slightly differently the same things? Can you think of someone you really like? Close your eyes and imagine that person in your mind's eye. Now point to where he/she is. Open your eyes and look at me. Now think of someone you really don't like. Close your eyes and imagine that person and point to where he/she is. He/she is in different place. Cool isn't it?

Now try in vain to put the person you don't like into the space where the person you like is. He/she will not go there. Your mind says, "NO." Open your eyes. Don't you find this (point to self) fascinating?

Now, as you focus on the wonders of your mind, you may notice the outside world goes away. All you notice is now. To me that's cool. As these feelings grow stronger and stronger and begin to block out all else, you may notice how your feet are tingling. As you allow yourself to surrender to this, you want to let go. Let go and remember all the happiness and excitement of new inner discoveries.

Do you like dancing, working out, or roller coasters? Can you imagine doing something like that now? Think of the last time you did one of these things, and step into that memory. Let your body remember. Physical memory is strong. Do you remember how to ride a bike? Even though it may be years since you rode a bike, your body remembers how to do it. You need to let go. Let go and let your body remember. Now, let your body lead you. It can remember riding a bike, or being so relaxed you just can't move, so relaxed you just can't move.

It's a comfortable feeling your body remembers. Let your body remember that feeling now. Maybe you were so tired, so tired you could not keep your eyes open. You tried in vain to not close your eyes. I remember a karate camp where I was so tired my body was lose, limp and relaxed. I just wanted to go with that feeling. I did not want to fight myself any longer. I wanted to let go and let my body relax even more. It is so relaxing to just follow along, isn't it?

Sometimes there are things you do not like to do, but if you go inside you can see those things in a new light. You can enjoy the process of changing your internal representations of those things now.

STOP NOW and remember a feeling of complete fascination. When you find those feelings you notice it can lead you into other areas. When I find those connections, to me, that's when you can really let go and enjoy. Many people find when they listen carefully, they block out all the external noise, block out all other sounds, and focus on every word. And it is easy to let the outer world disappear. When you can focus in like that now, you can stop and imagine a time in the future where you can imagine looking back on this moment and realize it was when you started a new journey of self-discovery. You realize that you found a new tool or technique to add to your toolbox. You realize you want to invest in yourself and get what you need.

Really brave and courageous people can start a new a new direction and follow a new path, but it takes the true heart of a warrior to blaze that new path for others. Many people get lost in mindless activity and forget the feeling of true antcipatation for new ideas. Have you ever wanted to learn something, learn something so much you were ready to commit the time and resources to obtain your goal? It's like being really hungry, really hungry for food, or a new idea, or a spiritual experience. Only you can convince yourself now to join us as we blaze the path of happy destiny.
