The White Light Bath
By Dr. David K. Scheiner

This technique is simple and is used in situations where the person feels vulnerable and needs a sense of strength and protection.

Practitioner: So what is happening with you and what are you after?
Client: I have a fear in certain situations, usually when I feel no control, I become anxious, nervous, and fidgety. An example is when I am driving in the car with my husband, who is the driver, and he drives like a maniac; swerving in and out of the lanes, cutting people off, and I feel that I just want to hop in the backseat and crawl under it!

Practitioner: I understand completely. I’m curious, have you tried anything to calm your anxiety in these situations that has either worked or not worked?
Client: Only prayer; Most of the time though that does not work.

Practitioner: Do you believe in God or some other higher power?
Client: Yes.

Practitioner: Close your eyes and feel the chair under you providing you with support. At the same time I want you to get a sense of your feet at the point where the sole connects to the ground. Can you get a feel for it?
Client: Yes.
Practitioner: Good.

Practitioner: I want you to stay with the feeling of the chair supporting you and the feet grounded to the floor. Take three deep breaths with me. In through your nose and exhale completely all the way out through your mouth (3X). Good.

Practitioner: Now you are going to, because you are in the same seated position as in the passenger seat of the car; visualize yourself in the car with your husband and be the passenger. See the car swerving in and out of the traffic; see the car cutting off other vehicles, and see any frustration on his face. Get to the point where you feel anxious, nervous, and scared, about to climb over to the backseat to go under it. Can you get there?
Client: Yes.
Practitioner: Good.

Practitioner: Now don’t climb over the seat into the back. Just stay right where you are in the front seat; scared, anxious, and nervous. Now, I am going to touch your head lightly OK? Nod your head up and down if yes and side to side if no.
Client: Nods head in yes fashion.
Practitioner: Good.

Practitioner: (while lightly touching hair) I want you to imagine a stream of pure natural while light streaming down from above the car, into the car, and into your hair. That light is essentially being supplied by your higher power – if you will. The light makes its way over your face, upper body, lower body, until you are completely coated in a white light bath of protection and healing energy. Can you see and feel that? Go ahead and reach your right arm out and see how it is covered in white light. Can you see it and feel it?
Client: Yes
Practitioner: Great.

Practitioner: Now I want you to see yourself floating from the front seat of the car up through the roof of the car in that white stream of healing white light. As you float above the vehicle in the healing white light I want you to look down at the car and see your other self completely protected by the light and in fact the entire vehicle is surrounded by it, including your husband. As you see this from above you can also see that since the car is protected that there is nothing to be afraid of or anxious about. Can you see that and feel the relaxation and calmness?
Client: Yes.

Practitioner: Now I want you to drift back into the car and feel the feelings of peace, tranquility, and relaxation that the white bath of light provides you and the vehicle.
Client: I feel it.
Practitioner: Good.

Practitioner: Now, I am going to count from 3 back to 1 and when I get to 1 I want you to take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth and slowly open your eyes.

Practitioner: 3, 2, 1 and deep breath – coming back here (rub hands together). How do you feel now?

Client: That was amazing. I can’t wait to get into the car with my husband and try this out!

Practitioner: Great!
