The Personal Build Up Using "And"

The theory behind this is that the word "And" is heard and seen many times throughout the day and it's powerful to anchor to such a common word a positive state / feelings. This way the client is being built up through out the day, everyday, 7 days a week from both conscious and unconscious awareness.

For this example we are going to build the client up to feel more confident and more in control.

1. Have the client sit down, get comfortable and relax
2. Have the client close their eyes and remember a time and place where they felt super confident and totally in control. Most people can recall at least one time.
3. Once they are there, have them verbally describe it in detail and when they are done to let you know by saying the word "and" 3 times (eyes still closed). Remember to encourage them to be as vivid as possible with the description touching on all the modalities (VAK, taste and smell). As they describe ask them to go deep into the submodalities too (shape, size, color, brightness, texture, etc..). You want all the details.
4. When they are done as they indicated by saying "And", "And", "And" you then want to hand your client a pen and paper and to have him write everything they just visualized and described down. When they are done writing out the description you then want them to write "And", "And", "And" at the bottom.
5. Now have them read their written description to you 3 times. Make sure they say out loud "And", "And", "And" at the end of each time.
6. *Important each time they read it and say the word "and" have then change their voice tone from a questioning tone, to a yelling tone, to a sad tone, to as many as you can come up with. They might see this as being unusual but it actually serves a higher purpose by associating / anchoring the word to it's different ways of being said.
7. Now, take their description away and put it to the side.
8. At this point ask your client "when I say the word "And", what comes to mind"? Then.. "when you think of that, how does it make you feel?" (make sure they get detailed on the feeling description)
9. Test by saying "And" in the different vocal tones.
10. Now on a blank sheet of paper write the word "And" and ask them what comes to mind. Then ask them how do you feel when you think about that. (make sure they get detailed on the feeling description)
11. At this point you should have anchored the word "And" to the positive state.
12. Close by saying "The more you notice the word "And" the more you will become aware of those feelings of confidence and being in control that you experienced in what you described, even if your conscious mind is to busy to remind you".
13. Give back the client their description and instruct them to read it over 3 times a day for the next 7 days making sure to verbalize the word "And" at the end of each read in the different vocal tones. This will help the technique stick.
