Constant Low Level Pain Relief

By Samuel Thompson

The subject of this study is a young lady who suffered from a cross country skiing accident nine years ago and has since been in constant low level discomfort ever since. While the more extreme pains have been treated by chiropractics and acupuncture these treatments have only been able to help up to a point and no more. She wishes to dispel the remaining pain and regain her old flexibility and comfortable range of motion.

Therapy: for our first session we started with the Healing Strategy. She was asked if she ever had suffered another muscular or skeletal injury, which had healed very quickly. It turns out that she had strained her right ankle badly once and had recovered in only a day or two.

Next I had her close her eyes and imagine the injury of her back and neck, which was resisting healing. We established an image out of the submodalities, ashen grey color, sublimital cold humming, inward constricting movement, cold temperature, a skeletal image, and a polymorphic undulating movement. I made an anchor point to this in her shoulder and then asked her to shake off the image.

I then asked her to visualize the quick healing of her ankle to establish it's submodalities, which were a rosy red color, warm humming, warmth, cheerful feeling, and light. This was then anchored to her right ankle.

Now telling herself that this was for her own benefit and health she was asked to visualize the individual submodalities of the first injury (while activating the anchor) and was then asked to transform that submodality into the image of the quick healing injury (activating that anchor). We worked through the inventory of submodalities using each in turn and changing them into their quick healing equivalents (using the anchors each time).

The patient was then asked to imagine a past time, several months or even a year or two ago and to integrate this new vision of health into that time, and to recognize how much recovery she could have if she had that time to recover. She was then future paced and told to see herself fully healed and recovered going about her day.

She was then returned to the present time frame, and told to take care of herself while she recovers fully. The session was then terminated as the patient felt totally overwhelmed by the cessation of pain in her back and neck, as well as a great deal of new flexibility in her back.

This work will be followed up by other session to address and heal any side effects of her recovery.
