Adding Confidence as a Baking Ingredient

By John Scalice

I had a client who wanted more confidence when teaching workshops. So I decided to use the New Behavior Generator. But after choosing a model, she was unable to firmly step into the picture, and couldn't really anchor into it.

From talking, I knew she was a good cook, comfortable in the kitchen.

So I asked her if she had ever heard people say that home baked goodies have a love as a special ingredient, and she said yes. I then asked that if we could add love, why not other emotions as well?

I had her step into her kitchen, but with her model subject as "guest cook". Together they baked a cake, but the guest cook stirred in a dose of confidence. When it was done they iced it together, writing the work "confidence" on her slice as a reminder. I then told her to eat her slice, and it would be the most delicious cake she had ever eaten. I also told her she would be able to feel the confidence entering along with the cake. This helped her internalize feelings of confidence.
